The exciting news just keeps flowing here at Emily’s Interiors! This month, we added a new Interior Designer to join our growing team! Introducing Natasha (Tasha) Young!

Tasha is energetic, fun, bubbly and so thrilled about joining our team. Interior Design is her passion and it shows in her work.

Here are a few things about Tasha, her design journey and more!

A little bit about Tasha:

“From a young age, I loved rearranging furniture in my childhood home. I even asked my Dad if we could add an exposed brick wall in my room (ha!). I am still obsessed with exposed brick to this day. Prior to diving into design, I worked in Marketing both in Boston and San Francisco, where I met my now husband. We moved back east 9 years ago, bought a condo in Southie (South Boston for non-locals), had a baby (she’s now 8!) and got black lab rescue pup. Having a kid and a dog in a city condo isn’t exactly ideal, so we decided it was time to move to the ‘burbs. After renovating my kitchen, bathroom, and backyard at my new home, it was clear how passionate I was about Design. I knew then that this was what I was meant to do, so I decided to start a ‘side hustle’ called Vintage Threshold, offering Interior Styling services.”

How would you describe your design style?

“I would describe my design style as “eclectic boho farmhouse.” I love being cozy, so that means lots of different textures, tons of throw blankets & pillows, anything furry and a lot of yummy smelling candles. There’s a Norwegian word for it called hygge. I also love anything vintage. It adds so much character to a room and is a conversation starter. It fascinates me to think about the history behind the piece and the life of the person who owned it. Oh, and plants. Every room is better with plants!”

Favorite Places to Shop for You and Your Clients?

“You can never go wrong with décor from HomeGoods and Target. I never walk out empty handed. It’s a problem. I also love Magnolia because Joanna Gaines is a design goddess. When it comes to furniture, I love West Elm, McGee & Co and Shoppe by Amber Interiors. I’ve been wanting to try Article too, they have some really cool pieces.”

What do you enjoy most about being a designer?

“I love helping someone turn their home into a place they love, and they never want to leave. My home is truly my happy place and I want everyone to feel that same way. Also, you don’t need a ton of money to fall in love with your space.”

Do you have any tips for designing on a budget?

“Shop at places like Target or HomeGoods, these stores have awesome finds! But, be sure to go to these stores with a plan of what you need for your space, otherwise you will end up buying every cute item you see.”

Any advice for getting into the field?

“This goes for any field. Don’t doubt yourself. Be willing to put yourself out there because you never know unless you try. What’s that saying, “In the end, we only regret the chances we didn’t take?” It’s so true. You just gotta hustle to get what you want, be willing to put in hard work and be confident.  And always think about building your brand!”
